Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The most praised element of Rudy & Olive's Fish and Chips is undeniably its fresh seafood. The fish is flaky and moist, encased in a light, crispy batter that never disappoints. Locals rave about the scallops and clams, often enjoying them alongside perfectly hand-cut fries. The cozy atmosphere, combined with friendly service, keeps guests returning. Many diners also appreciate the convenience of outdoor seating and a relaxed dining experience that feels like a comforting escape from the daily grind. Additionally, be sure to sample the famous coconut cream pie and sticky toffee pudding—these desserts have been described as unforgettable!

Most Disliked

Some patrons express disappointment regarding the limited availability of certain menu items, like seafood chowder, which can be hit-or-miss depending on the day. There are also comments about the restaurant sometimes being too crowded, especially on busy weekends, which can lead to longer wait times. For those expecting a gourmet experience, the casual dining style may come off as too relaxed. Additionally, while the outdoor seating is charming, some visitors might find it less comfortable during inclement weather. However, these criticisms don’t overshadow the overall quality that Rudy & Olive's offers.

Rudy and Olive's redeemed NS fish and chips for me after a disappointing venture the night before. A small, busy little place you could easily pass by, but down home cooking that makes it a local favourite. The service was friendly in a casual no fuss kind of way...exactly what you would expect. The fish was delicious, and everyone in the joint seemed to agree! Moist, flaky, crispy batter, and the tartar sauce was amazing as well. The clams were tender and tasty as well. Disappointed they didn't have chowder, not sure if that's a permanent thing, but I got some down the street.

Rudy and Olives...first visit...one piece fish and chips...light, crispy batter, lovely flaky haddock (fresh every day...not frozen), excellent, attentive service in a small restaurant on a crazy busy Saturday...simply an enjoyable Nova Scotia meal. Will definitely be back. Handicapped parking very close to the restaurant, outside picnic tables available.

This is hands down the best fish and chips in HRM. So fresh. Not fishy. And a great lobster roll! Scallops yum. Clams. Yum. Plus, is named after their Doodles!!! Amazing

Fabulous fish & chips shack in a little mall down the road from 2 fish markets. Friendly, local atmosphere, umbrella’d tables outside in addition to inside. Great hand cut fries, crispy out, fluffy in. Fish tick cut, moist, nice crisp batter, not too heavy. Nice deep fried clam strips, could use a bit more white pepper, but tasty fresh. Excellent seafood chowder cross between potato and cream broth, with good amount of mixed seafood. This place is a hit!

We stumbled upon this place after visiting Peggy’s Cove. It’s a place off the side of the road with gorgeous art on the front and we didn’t realize how good the food was going to be… so we ended coming 2 days in a row! We got the seafood platter, cheeseburger, seafood chowder, shrimp tacos, fish & chips, and calamari (over the 2 days) - everything was amazing. But the desserts had to be our favourite part. The coconut cream pie and sticky toffee pudding are some of the best we’ve ever had. 12/10 place!!

Order the sea food platter for takeout, what an amazing amount of food. The fries are salted perfectly, so crispy and lots to enjoy. The best part is the fish and claws, don't get me wrong the scallops are amazing but the fish and claws are right out of this world. Simply said the best in the HRM and most likely in NS. The fish portions are crispy not much batter and all fish. The claws I can eat them all day, so fresh as the fish is and perfectly enough batter. The slaw very delicious and the tartar sauce is home made and makes it all happen When in HRM need to stop in for some fresh seafood.

Went into organized chaos and got the feed that I needed! Lobster roll was a monster, scallops where so tender you could cut them with a sour look and the fish and clams where out of this world!
